Sage and Isabel inside the Capitol Rotunda

Sage and Isabel inside the Capitol Rotunda

Sage and Isabel are standing in the Rotunda, a spacious corridor located inside of the U.S. Capitol Building. The Capitol is home to the Congress which consists of the House of Representatives and the Senate.

The circular Rotunda is 96 feet in diameter and 180 feet high. It connects the two sides of the Capitol—the House wing and the Senate wing. The walls of the Rotunda are decorated with artwork showing various moments in American history and also serves as a meeting space for special events.

Members of the Congress are elected by the citizens of the Unite States and are sent to Washington, D.C. as representatives. Each citizen of the United States who is at least 18 years old has the right to vote in every election. It is during these regular elections that our nation’s political leaders are chosen.
